'Hasyancho Paavs' season 3 Award Ceremony
Winners of Konkani comedy show 'Hasyancho Paavs' season 3, presented by Daijiworld 24x7 channel in association with
United Friends Club, Bejai, were awarded in a grand ceremony held at Forum Fiza Mall here Saturday, August 26.
'Comedy Express Kulshekar' won the reality show and took home a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while 'Comedy Kateelche Kuvor' won the
second prize of Rs 30,000, and 'The Expression Sasthan' bagged the third prize carrying Rs 20,000 cash prize. All of them were awarded
trophies too. The best actor award was won by Sujatha Andrade, member of 'The Expression Sasthan'.
Renowned veteran dramatist, actor and director Francis Fernandes Cascia, who was the chief guest, other dignitaries, namely NRI
entrepreneur and movie producer Frank Fernandes, NRI enterprenuer James Mendonca, actor and writter Dayan D'Souza, Mukamar, president
of United Friends Club, Bejai, Nirmal D'Souza, and secretary of United Friends Bejai Robin Cutinha.
Frank Fernandes said, "Hasyancho Pavs means 'rain of comedy' but now with season 3, it has become the 'nourishment of comedy'.
The show has won high appreciation from the Konkani world.
Founder and managing director of Daijiworld Media Walter Nandalike welcomed the gathering and said, "With this award ceremony we
are going to complete season 3 of 'Hasyancho Paavs'. Many Konkani talents have been discovered through this show. Many talents who
participated in seasons first and second got opportunities in serials, movies and stage shows. I congratulate all the teams and the
artistes. Do not forget the stage which made you popular. Be humble about your talent as well as in your conduct in the world of art.
I thank United Friends Bejai for their involvement and all the judges of this show."
Dayan D'Souza said, "I congratulate all the contestants on taking part in this competition. There are three categories of people
who are recognised more than others - politicians, donors and artistes. Politicians are respected only when they are in power, donors
only when they donate, but artistes always get respect. An artiste should have commitment and perseverance.
On behalf judges, Dolla Mangaluru and Fr Vijay Victor thanked the organizers and congratulated all the participants.
Frank Fernandes and James Mendonca handed over mementos to technical and organizing teams as a token of appreciation. Sheldon Crasta

Installation programme of new office bearers 2017-18
United Friends Bejai (R), a charity oriented association's installation programme of new office bearers for
the year 2017 was held on Saturday, 17th June 2017 at Milan Homes, Yeyyadi in city. Chief guest on the occasion
was Fr Richard D’Souza, Director, Canara Communication Centre, Bajjodi. Mr. Nelson Pereira, Past President of
Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association, Mr. Benedict D’Souza Builder & Entrepreneur and Mr. Francis Cutinha,
Chairman, MCC Bank were the guests of honour.
Mr. Nirmal D’Souza has been elected as the President. Robin Cutinha has been re-elected as the Secretary.
Stephen D’Souza has been re-elected as Treasurer.
Out going president Mr. Denzil Rego handed over the charge to the newly appointed president Mr. Nirmal D’Souza.
Ms.Jessica Eva D’Souza & Ms. Cindy Deborah were honoured for scoring highest marks in SSLC and PUC respectively.
Adelar D’Souza was felicitated for music & sports, Chrisyl Gomes was felicitated for dance and culture.

LENTEN ACTIVITY by United Friends, Bejai
United Friends, Bejai, under the leadership of Mr. Denzil Rego, President of the Association, on 02/04/2017 visited Aloysian Boys Home, Kotekar, as a part of Lenten service. It was a place, for nearly 60 delinquents and orphans who have been staying there from all over Karnataka, without the boundary of caste and creed.
United Friends along with their family members, spent valuable time from 11 am to 3 pm with these orphans. Mr. Arun Rodrigues, past President of United Friends addressed the children and advised them to study meticulously to come up in life. Mr. Denzil Rego, President wished all well to the children and particularly to the students, who were appearing for the SSLC Examination. Mr. Robin Cutinha, Secretary of the club, conducted many group games for the children. Mr. Silvester Lobo compered the programme. Prizes were distributed to the children, who had won in the games. The programme was concluded with Lunch for the children & staff of Aloysian Boys Home, that was sponsored by the United Friends Association.

United Friends Bejai in association with Daijiworld 24x7 inaugurated ‘Hasyancho Paavs- Season 3’, a popular Konkani
comedy contest at Milagres P U College Auditorium here on Sunday, February 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Editor-in- chief of Daijiworld.com, Walter Nandalike, said, “Along with United friends,
we are happy to inaugurate this contest this year. 18 teams participated in the Season 2 contest.
This year also we have best teams participating in this contest.
Speaking on the occasion, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino said, “I was eagerly waiting
for this contest for a long time. United Friends was known for rendering their service towards social work and now they
are serving the Konkani culture. I am grateful to Walter Nandalike, Daijiworld Media and United Friends for promoting
Konkani culture. May this contest be successful and let us all join in serving the Konkani Matha.”
Fr Victor Vijay Lobo director of Sandesha conducted prayer session and sought God’s blessing.
JD(S) Youth leader Ashwin Pereira said, “Laugher is an expression and the one who makes others laugh is truly talented.
We all need to have a true expression of laugher. May this contest bring joy and happiness in all and may
it flourish worldwide.”

Comedy Factory, Kollagan, Comedy Cousins, Dosti Kalakar and Makkar Permannur will be battling out for the title.

Tribute
United Friends, Bejai, have suffered a huge loss in the year 2016 and 2017, as two of its members left to
heavenly abode.
Roshan Monteiro died due to cardiac arrest on 17/05/2016. He was a member, selflessly hard working, who served
as Secretary and Treasurer at different years for the United Friends Club, Bejai.
As the new year 2017 began with a happy note, 28 th Saturday, January 2017, gave United Friends Association,
a sudden shock. Mr. Umesh Rao, 48 Years old, a jovial personality, was no more. He too died due to Cardiac arrest.
The untimely death, brought tears in our eyes. They were both peace lovers. Both had love and affection towards
Association. They were active and very supportive to the club events. We love you Roshan and Umesh. We remember
your services for ever.
May your soul rest in peace.
